SENATE PROPOSED EXTENTION OF U.S. VISA WAIVER PROGRAM
(2006)

Senators Rick Santorum (R.-PA), Barbara Mikulski (D.-MD), and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R.-Tenn) co-sponsored an amendment that would extend a U.S. Visa Waiver program to Poland. The amendment was accepted by a unanimous vote as part of the Senate’s immigration Legislation on May 25.

The Amendment adds Poland to the list of designated countries in the Visa Waiver program for two years. It allows Polish Citizens to travel to the United States for tourism or business for up to 60 days without needing to stand in line to get a visa, making it easier for Poles to visit family and friends, or do business in the United States.

The Senate Bill along with the Bill passed in the House of Representatives on Immigration will go before a joint Committee of the Senate and House for concurrence - and at which time the Senate Visa Waiver Amendment will be required to be accepted by both Chambers.
